A DIFFERENT KIND OIF MEMORIAL DAY MESSAGE

A DIFFERENT KIND OF MEMORIAL DAY MESSAGE

When I became of age as a young man
I felt a duty to join the military service
I’m sure that the very thought of this
Made my mother extremely nervous

I signed up and went for a physical
To my total surprised I was denied
They said to come back in six months
The rejection left me with a hole inside

I was determined to change what went wrong
I wanted to make my family and country proud
The next time I was told that I passed the physical
It made me want to shout thank you Lord out loud

I served my country proudly for nearly four years
I never saw action but I worked behind the scenes
Supporting those who put their lives on the line
Those who survived know how much that means

The type of work that I did in the service
Would become my trade in civilian life
I had served my country proudly
Now it was time to start a new life

As time went by my country would go to war
I wanted to serve again but now had a family
So what I decided was the next best thing
Was to support all those in the military

Over fifty years later I still feel the same way
Every day these men put their lives on the line
To protect the liberties that we enjoy back home
And that would include both your butt and mine

Memorial Day is a day to commemorate those brave souls
That died to protect all of us while serving their country
Leaving behind families and love ones who still grieve
Remember them on this day knowing freedom isn’t free

EVERLASTING LIFE IS A NO BRAINER

EVERLASTING LIFE IS A NO BRAINER

Evolution is an ongoing process
We’re born we live and we die
I believe that there’s more to it
And I’ll tell you the reason why

Throughout the New Covenant it tells us
That Yeshua said and did many things
By accepting Him we’re given life eternal
Through the blessing that Salvation brings

The heavenly body that we’re given is new
I don’t believe that it will be the same
And the main thing we’ll do in the after life
Will be to Bless and Praise God’s Holy Name

It’s not exactly what many people may be used to
Considering the alternative it makes more sense
And although I don’t have first hand knowledge
I understand that the heat in hell is quite intense

In heaven you’ll have a place to rest
That’s free of sickness and of strife
To store all your heavenly treasures
Forever with God for an eternal life

GRANDSON

A NOTE FROM THE POET: As you can see, today's poems are being posted a day earlier than usual. Before I post the 1st poem, “Grandson”, I’m asking for a little indulgence from my readers. You see, today is my 75 birthday, and last night; I received a double blessing as a pre-birthday present.

My oldest grandson, Jason Richman graduated from Milton High School, in Milton, Ga. And will be headed to Ga. Southern University on a full baseball scholarship. The 2nd part of this blessing was the fact that his diploma was presented to him by his aunt Shelby, my younger daughter, who is a French teacher at Milton H. S. Also for those who didn’t see this in a previous posting, she was selected as Fulton County Teacher of the Year this year and is 1 of 10 (out of 150) finalists who are competing for the title of Georgia Teacher of the Year that will be announced on June 1st.

Well, now that my ego is a little less inflated, here are this week’s two poems starting with:

“ GRANDSON”

I love each one of my grandchildren the same but
There’s something very special about the first one
In my case perhaps because we had all daughters
It’s as close as I’ll get to having a son

And as I watched you grow into a young man
It gives me an overwhelming sense of pride
Seeing the great young man that you’ve become
I get a warm wonderful feeling deep inside

Now you’re entering a new phase in your lif
My wish is for much happiness and success
Focus on the right things in your lifetime
And always strive to do your very best

Jason, congratulations on your graduation
And the future that lies ahead of you

We love you,
Poppa Joel & Grandma Trudi

THE FOCUS OF MY LIFE

THE FOCUS OF MY LIFE

When my time on earth has ended
Yeshua may I sit down at your feet
I have partaken of the bread of life
Your word is the manna that I eat

Over the span of my lifetime
I have committed many sins
Through your blood I am forgiven
Each day my renewed life begins

I try to be more like You by making
God the Father my Spiritual Master
Should I stray I know the devil sees it
Something that could lead to disaster

I can’t and won’t let satan bind me
I speak God's Truth to make him flee
For blind faith and God’s written word
Has never failed to set this captive free

Will you take me to the Father
So that I may truly know His Glory
For just by living in eternal peace
This will be a never ending story

Father each day I Praise Your Holy Name
Giving thanks for everything that You do
I close each prayer in Yeshua's precious name
The focus of my life will always be on You

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

TO ALL THE MOTHERS OUT THERE, "HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY."
This year's poem written to the love of my life, my beautiful wife.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Each year I write a poem for your birthday
Our anniversary and even for the day we met
But once a year there’s a special day
Which none of us should ever forget

That day of course is Mother’s Day and it tells
Of who you are all that you’ve done and still do
Not only through your loving children’s eyes but
From your grateful and loving husband too

I could go on and on about who you are and
What you’ve done and still do throughout life
But of all these things I’m most grateful for
The fact that God chose to put you in my life

Only God knew that you were the glue
That would keep me from falling apart
I will love you beyond the day my life ends
My best friend and wife who will always have my heart

HOLY RESERVATIONS

HOLY RESERVATIONS

The Lord was leading me down life’s path
That’s when you came my way
I know that it’s He who put you there
And I hoped that it would be to stay

Each day I pray and praise God’s Name
For He alone is my Salvation
And since you came into my life
It has been blessed with jubilation

He’s told me that you are the one
With God that makes our lives complete
Your love just like the love He gives
Is tender warm and sweet

As we journey down the path of life
Walking hand in hand together
The Lord is right beside us
Through all kinds of weather

The days and months and years pass by
As together the two of us grow old
Then we’ll come and join the Lord
Walking through the pearly gates of gold

And as we’re praising His Holy Name
One which never can be denied
Two empty seats are next to Him
And God says, “Come sit here by My side.”

HOW TO GET FROM POINT A TO POINT B

HOW TO GET FROM POINT A TO POINT B

If there’s one thing that I’ve learned in life
It’s that I need to pray to God above
I know that when I praise His name
He blesses me with abundant love

Don’t pray to Him for material things
God only gives you what you need
And when He sees your faithfulness
You will receive them at God’s speed

God came to earth in human form
As Messiah God and the son of man
One in the Spirit that dwells in you
It’s just one part of His perfect plan

He is called Yeshua Ha Mashiach
To the Gentiles He is Jesus Christ
But no matter how you say His name
He cleansed your sins by His sacrifice

Jews and Gentiles who are believers
Are to minister to the spiritually blind
For when He returns to bring us home
All unbelievers will be left behind

It’ not to late to profess your belief
But the end tine clock is ticking rapidly
Through Messiah alone is the way to God
And to the sin free life of eternity

JUST WHO IS A POET

JUST WHO IS A POET

Most poets that I read have one thing in common
They like to tell stories that end in rhymes
The subjects that they write about are diversified
Subjects from both the ancient and modern times

What makes them write the way that they do
Perhaps it could possibly be their originality
Others may write when they are depressed
And some may even have a split personality

They may write things of a spiritual nature
Like me the Lord has given them the call
Many write about nature’s beauty or animal
And some that write make no sense at all

Whatever the reason that we write the way that we do
And yes there are even some that write just to annoy
For the most part the pleasure that we get from it is
That this God given talent is there for you to enjoy
