THANKSGIVING - a poem worth repeating

THANKSGIVING

We’ll be spending our Thanksgiving
By driving over to Grandma’s house
Not a soul will go hungry
Not even a little mouse

She started preparing
On the night before
If there was anything missing
She sent Grandpa to the store

Everything must be perfect
On this day you see
For it isn’t very often
That we gather as a family

After a long trip we arrive there
The first thing we do is turn on the TV
To watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade
There are marching bands and floats to see

Before we begin eating
We hold hands and pray
Thank you Lord for the blessings
That you have given us this day

And we also pray for a special blessing for
The men and women who protect our liberty
Please God keep them safe from harm
They understand that freedom isn’t free

Then Grandpa says let’s eat I’m starving
The first thing on the menu is soup in a cup
In the background we listen to Holiday music
This always helps us to keep our spirits up

Uncle Charlie carves the turkey and
Asks if we want dark meat or white
And even with this many people
There will be plenty to take home tonight

Pass the gravy and the rolls please
The peas and sweet potatoes too
The cornbread stuffing is delicious
And may I have some apple cidar too

When we finish the main course
The women will help to put things away
While the men go and watch a football game
Actually there are several to watch on TV today

Once everything else has been cleaned up
Grandma serves coffee and pumpkin pie
All of a sudden it feels like we’re stuffed
For some strange reason we wonder why

Before we head back to our homes
There are still two things to be done
First we help set up the Christmas Tree
Then we join hands and thank the Holy One

Thank you Lord for the blessings of this special day
We ask for traveling mercies and Your Grace again
May all of our hearts be filled with Your goodness
And to this prayer all of Your children say AMEN

THE WORD OF GOD IS 24/7

the WORD OF GOD is 24/7

I took a week’s vacation

You get away for a short rest

I hardly slept on the first night

All of this at the Lord’s behest

A million thoughts raced thru my head

I could not get my mind to clear

The reason finally came to me

It was because the Lord was near

The day that I found completion in Him

God gave me thoughts to write in pen

I needed to do it right away

Not knowing when or if they’d come again

Yeshua said that each one of us

Will minister God’s word in their own way

And those who have never known him

Will now be ready for His return one day

 And the reborn souls that find Him

Will seek out others to connect

The joy of knowing the King of kings

Will have a domino effect

These words He’s given me to write

The unsaved souls were meant to see

The blood shed by God’s perfect Lamb

Has forgiven all sin and set us free

My ministry does not stop there

As always the Lord has shown the way

To fellowship with both Jew and Gentile

Together they will pray to God one day

I praise and give thanks to the Father and Son

For infilling me with the Holy Spirit                 

These gifts that proclaim the Good News

To all who want and need to hear it

LIFE GOES ON AND ON AND ON

life goes on and on and on

When friends or loved ones pass away

And sorrowful tears are shed

We cry because we miss them so

But tears are for the living not the dead

You may say, “how dare he write such words as this”

Let me explain the reason why

Perhaps it will help you to understand

It is o.k. you still can cry

God has called the one you love

It was their time to be precise

With Messiah and through God’s grace

They have gone on to paradise

As our tears subside in time

God will call us one day too

And the loved ones that was missed so much

Will spend eternal life with you

The words that you're about to read

May offend you but that's O. K.

I received them from the Holy Spirit

And this is what I was told to say

Multitudes of Jews and Gentiles

Have accepted salvation through God's Son

God has a purpose for every one of us

A purpose which many have not yet begun

It's a blessing to praise and worship the Lord

But deeds and works are a part of the plan

To give service to the Holy One

Is pleasing to the Son of God and man

We've all been given ministries

Besides spreading the good news

To serve God when and where we can

It's something that many believers still refuse

Each house of God is filled with needs

A blessing that everyone can fulfill

It just takes a bit of time and effort

As well as having a sacrificial will

Find some way to serve the Lord

Become a blessing on God's living tree

For God almighty sacrificed his only son

So that all of mankind could be free

UNBURDEN YOURSELF

UNBURDEN YOURSELF

Are you going though financial burdens

Do they cause you severe depression

Perhaps God is testing your resolve

Because His economy is never in recession

He has commanded us to tithe faithfully

Give Him ten percent right off the top

If you think that all your bills come first

You'd better put that notion to a stop

Why not take a moment to reflect on this

Do you want your storehouse to overflow

By tithing faithfully you will be blessed

In Malachi 3:10 the bible tells you so

Step away from the illogical reasoning that says to

Pay your debts first and if there is left over to give

For if you pray to God to help you solve this problem

His Response will show you that it's not the way to live

Why not go to the Lord in prayer and say,

"Yes Lord I am listening and I will obey"

And later as you reflect upon your action

Most likely your hardship has gone away

Then go to God with a prayer of thanks

For cleansing you of your worldly ways

Walk the narrow path of righteousness and

Be blessed for the remainder of your days

I've had the greatest privilege

To work in special education

Helping and watching their progress

Brought me both joy and jubilation

There were times when they got rowdy

And made attempts at acting out

But with firmness and true love

They understood what it's all about

They may be slower than some others

That's all that sets these kids apart

When you consider their special needs

It's plain to see that they're very smart

Not everyone can do this type of work

They say I'm special but that's not true

All that's needed is love and understanding

To see that they are really very smart

Seeing their progress through the years

Gave me a heart felt warmth inside

I loved them like they were my own

They truly are a great sense of pride

MISHPOCHAH

MISHPOCHAH

When you translate the Hebrew word Mishpochah

Into English the meaning of the word is family

The Holy Spirit showed me just how

This word specifically applies to me

We planned a trip to West Palm Beach

For my wife's sister's birthday celebration

It went without saying that while we were there

We would fellowship with at least one congregation

                                                                                        

On Friday night we worshiped at a small Messianic Synagogue

As Mishpochah their leader poured a Bless on us that very night

Asking us to pray the Sabbath candles wine and bread Blessings

For both of us this was a both a privilege and a Spiritual delight

On Sunday morning we prayed with Baptist believers

The Pastor of this Church was the nephew of my wife

He called me to the pulpit to join Him for the closing prayer

Another of many blessings G-d has poured into my life

These examples are the true meaning of the word Mishpochah

Jew and Gentile as one to praise and glorify Yeshua our Lord

Just one more sign of Messiah's soon return and on that day

Mankind's belief in Him as the Son of God will be of one accord
